Attaining your goal

I was looking for an inspiring story to help out in our BeInspired theme and found this…just when I am on the down low for my business as I have yet to get another Yes, I got this bit by John Di Lemme as an upper. Though a temporary fix, still appreciate the boost. Read on the 5 + 5 = 5 — By John Di Lemme.

I know your thinking… ‘Okay, John, 5+5 does not equal 5.’ So, please let me
explain.

Let’s start with a question. How many times have you heard that you need to have a “long term” goal and be focused for the entire length of that “long term?” In this message, I am going to focus on a 5 year goal and explain how you will know if you are truly on track to achieve your 5 year goal in life. In the equation, the answer 5 is your five-year goal and the 5+5 is the underlying secret to attaining that goal.

As I speak with numerous people on a daily basis, I hear their frustration about their goals that they‚ve set and the lack of progress that they have made. As I say, “A mountain is built one pebble at a time and climbed one step at a time.”

The first “5” in the equation represents the 5 people that you call our friends, associates, etc. I suggest that you make a list of the 5 people that you associate with on a regular basis, and then take a good look at it to see if they either have goals similar to yours or are progressing towards the achievement of a goal similar to your 5-year goal. A major key to unlock the secret to your future is to be 110% conscious of the fact that you will ultimately become who you associate with. For example, if you have dreams of becoming healthy and wealthy and your associates are overweight smokers that complain about working one-minute overtime, then I can predict the odds of you being healthy and wealthy is slim to none.

Millions of people never attain their dreams, because their “friends” serve as “cement shoes” as they walk towards their goals in life. As I set my goals, I surround myself with people who are on the same path in life that I am on. If you truly internalize this same mindset, then you can achieve your goals in life.

The second “5” in the equation is to take a personal inventory of the last 5 books that you have read or cassettes that you have listened to. Just for fun, the next time one of your friends complains about something… ask them what were the last 5 books that they have read or cassettes they have listened to. You will get one of two answers: I do not remember or I do not have the time to read. Your last 5 books that you read will determine where your focus or direction is in life. The average person reads 1 book a year after high school, which is the #1 reason why 95% of people are “dead broke at age 65.” Even the greatest computer in the world needs to be programmed in order to perform its functions.

We are all designed for greatness, but we need to be conscious of our associations and what we are reading or listening to on a daily basis will decide the level of greatness that we all reach. Decide today to focus on your 5 year goal and realize that your 5 friends and the 5 books/tapes that you listen to will determine if you hit your goal or not. Success is simple, but not easy because it takes the ability to grow, stretch, search and learn to enjoy everyday as you progress towards your 5-year goal.

5 + 5 = 5… give it a try and let me know if it works for you.
I can actually predict your results: 5 + 5 = your dream.

Find Your WHY and FLY!

Last September 2, I joined an eload business called VMobile. I am one who kept saying I do not have time nor do I like to sell. But the products interest me and it seemed like it is about time to take a risk again.

I  put up my own business before and I used up all my measly savings plus 300K from my mom. The business went sour and no ROI was had. Now with only P3988 I know it is not as high risk as the computer shop  rental, so I went in with an open mind about being a technopreneur. Although I have yet to get positive results with my prospects, I know this is the right time for me and this is the right vehicle to make that happen.

I am putting here the proposal I just made with the help of the images from someone in the Team Generals whose album I helped myself unto. My gratitude to you fellow TP…so if you are tired of having a boss, you need a passive income, you do not have 65K and above capital to get a franchise business then this eload business may just be the one for you. Read on.

Got only P175 in your wallet but you have a big hunger to feed?

Of course there are always the nearest fastfood chains that can be counted on. They do serve now P50 worth of meals but if you are not easily satiated by one rice and three meatballs or a burger and fries, you may want to take the time to go to V.Luna and try eating at Carinderia Buffet.

I found out about this place last January when I visited my friends at my former work place. At the time the price of an eat all you can was P99, as long as nothing is left on your plate and you do not share. But now at P175 with bottomless iced tea, the price is still a steal since the viands are freshly served and there is a wide variety of fish, shellfish, poultry and pork to be had.

Since this is carinderia fare at its finest, those who are health conscious need to satisfy their taste buds elsewhere as you might find the viands too oily or too laden with fat for comfort. But for those who love to eat, when you come visit this place bring your hunger with you. You wont be sorry you came. 😀 Happy eating everyone!

I had the misfortune of having tried my hand at writing for Essays.ph, supposed writer’s bestfriend.

My present company does not believe in giving out any pay increase so instead of lamenting the zero increase for 5 years, I was always on the look out for a side line job. One side line job I had to let go because it was taking too much of my time and giving me too much grief compared to my day (in this case night) job. So when I chanced upon an online writing stint that allows you to work on your own pace with a P10,000-15,000 pay, I thought why not.

The first time I received their email last May 26, I was excited. At least I can get to practice writing again and get paid. I sure missed writing for a glossy mag but this was still ok I thought. I sure should have heeded the warning bells when I sent out my pre-employment assignment, I sent the email June 3 and after following up I heard from them June 12.  The next day I got my first assignment:

I did not know how much I was going to be paid but I did the articles. Here it showed that I had to write 6 articles with 400 words each. When no one replied to my questions as to how the pay is determined and how much, I stopped writing after four days. I had already written more than 20+ articles that week alone.

I sent another email to ask what the points are for and did not receive any reply what they meant, though an answer was sent to me why I did not receive any assignment and the delay in payment. I thought maybe I should give them another chance. Alarm bells again but I ignored them since I really needed the extra income. 15 days later, I got a payment update. The points were the actual amount in peso I am supposed to receive. My mouth fell open in utter disappointment. Where was the P10,000? How can more than 10 articles mean only a measly amount? So I stopped writing for this company, it was a waste of time already. I work at night and I stay awake late just to finish the articles on time. What do I get for all that hard work? A less than P300 payment and a lot of stress.

The horror did not end there. The two weeks became a month and no replies came from their end. Then another payment update only to show that they credited someone else’s bank account. I sent them an email every day. Yes, for a measly amount. The articles already amounted to P2025 since I wrote for them for 2 weeks. I must say I should not have bothered but I did the job and I deserved to be paid for it.

Just to clarify, essays.ph did pay just last August 25 after more than a month of following up with no response from them. So other writers like me be warned, they do not pay as they advertised in Jobstreet and Facebook. I write this piece because I do not want anyone else to be a victim. They ask too much and cheat you of a good pay. They sell whatever it is you write as soon as you submit them. Just that you will get paid after a month or so and because it is a lump sum the payment seemed bigger…check out the breakdown below:

16815.02                          Loans                        Writer 8            300         7-Jul

16721.03                          Loans & Insurance       Writer 5            210         7-Jul

17084.02                          Mix                           Writer 2             255         25-Jun

I admit I wrote them scathing emails one after another. I am not ashamed of that. I am not sorry I said those things. I felt cheated, I felt used and I felt they should not victimize writers who are looking for a decent pay. Cecilia Cordero, who is the email-based project director, should be ashamed of herself for not being forthcoming. For telling me that being angry will not amount to anything, the hell with that reasoning? When you do not get paid, your texts and emails ignored who would not feel pissed. I was and I am letting you know not to get into essays.ph because you’d be sorry big time. I surely was.

I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now.  I will be posting on this blog once a day or once a week at least for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy since most of the time I put it off or I get a writer’s block, but I really want to just have the time to. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

Rachel

She used to be my unicorn…

Like most we started off as strangers, that’s stage 1. Meeting, thanks to a shoelace actually. It seemed pathetic that a guy would do just about anything for the right girl. But it paid off because I got her number. Then stage 2, the chase, some say is the best part. All I wanted was to know more about her. All I wanted to do was hang out with her, the only person I wanted to talk to was her. She was the number one priority and everytime I saw her butterflies. She was everything that I thought was perfect in a girl.

Stage 3, honeymoon. Everyone calls it this and for good reason because this was the time when we can  fully express our affections towards each other and do all the things we want as a couple. The girl who I badly want to be so, so badly was finally mine. Finally fire cooled and both of us simmered down to normalcy.

We entered level 4, comfortable. Now this is not necessarily bad, depends on what you do with that comfort. Some use it to work on what their relationship, others like us allow it to create distance. This made us take each other for granted. Whether it was taking each for granted or people changing over time, bottom line is someone stops trying and feelings are not as strong as before.

It was one and a half year, we reached stage 5 tolerance. Somehow the girl who I was crazy before turned out someone not special anymore. Arguing is one thing but feeling dissatisfied about the relationship is another.

It was not long when we reached stage 6, downhill. Not much time left when you are here. The effort to make things work are not worth it anymore.

What is next is what happens to everyone at one time. The end of the line, the worst stage ever -the breaking up. This is what leads to right back where we started, strangers. The change will be so drastic and so blunt that we might want to be back to each other right away just to restore what is normal. But this does not always happen and the distance will grow. Our lives will turn into different directions and be strangers again…

The first time I saw this short clip from one of my FB friend’s wall, I thought how can one 16 minute clip produced by Wongfu Productions be so concise about the complicated world of relationships?

True you are basking in happiness the first few months then after a while, you find yourself in a comfort zone and ask yourself where do you go from here? Of course this does not mean it happens to everyone, some relationships do stand the test of time. But like what this couple went thru, I went thru the same thing. Four years down the drain and when I see him I no longer know who that guy is. He was from my past yes, but I no longer recognize who he was during the time we were on the brink of our final break up. You heard me right, final break up.

I do not know when it started that I no longer feel anything towards him  and the fight got worst over the most inane things. I had enough and I knew it was over and  there was no more running after,  no more patching up …The honeymoon was really over and there was no use having this stranger a part of my life any longer.
